Nobody selected = everyone. That way the task doesn't disappear from view when filtering by person.
Regardless of this, a task is created automatically the day before as soon as the waste calendar or the calendar shows a matching collection for tomorrow – after the collection it is checked off by itself.
Create your first category here, e.g. “Cleaning” or “Tidying”.

A signed-out device loses access immediately, no longer receives notifications and deletes the pinn. data on the device the next time it is opened – handy if a phone gets lost. “Change password” also signs out all other devices.
On iPhone and iPad, notifications only work if pinn. was added via “Share → Add to Home Screen” and is opened from there (iOS 16.4 or later).
On Android phones, notifications work in Chrome, Samsung Internet, Edge or Firefox – not in the built-in browser of other apps (e.g. WhatsApp, Mail). Please open the pinn. address there.
Tip for Android: add pinn. to the home screen as an app – it then opens without an address bar and notifications come with the pinn. icon.
In Chrome, tap ⋮ at the top right → “Install app” or “Add to Home screen”.
Do notifications arrive late or not at all on Android when the phone has been idle for a while? Under Settings → Apps → Chrome (or pinn.) → Battery choose “Unrestricted” and check that everything is allowed under Notifications.
Applies to all devices you are logged in on.
Children are members with a kids' page or the role “Child”. You also get the notifications when someone else checks off a child's task.
The message arrives about half a minute after pinning – several reactions are combined. Your own notes and replies never notify yourself.
One combined message in the morning when pantry items are about to expire – how many days before is set on the pantry page (slider icon).
Only arrives if the waste calendar (Settings → Calendar) shows a collection the next day – with the bins and whose turn it is to take them out. Children only get it when it’s their own turn.
On the family dashboard (e.g. the iPad in the kitchen), your profile opens with a tap on your picture. With a PIN, your code is asked for first – like on the iPhone. The PIN is optional.
As a dashboard, this device shows the family's profiles when opened. Tapping a child opens their kids' page with tasks directly, everyone else opens their profile – with a PIN if they have set one. There are no personal notifications on a dashboard device.
Only an admin of the family can set up a dashboard.
Only an admin of the family can end this.
Each family member has their own profile. You create new people as a member – the profile is created along with it. Guest accounts have no password, only open via the family dashboard and don't see finance, documents and settings.
Ticked areas are visible to guest accounts. Finance, documents and settings are always locked for guests. Note: The overview shows calendar, meals and tasks together on one page – if the calendar is deselected, it is missing there too.
Applies to all family dashboards of this family (e.g. the iPad in the kitchen). A custom image is automatically reduced when uploading.
Darkening keeps the time and names on the image easy to read.
Guest account – without password and without family member. It only opens via the family dashboard and has no access to finance, documents and settings.
A guest appears as their own picture on the family dashboard and opens without password and without PIN. Finance, documents and settings are locked for guests.
🔒 Child lock: the settings can only be viewed. An adult can change them in their profile.

Order and display of the tiles on the overview. Applies only to your profile – on all devices you are logged in on.
On phones and on the iPad in portrait mode, the tiles are stacked in this order. In landscape mode the calendar is on the left (or on the right if another large tile comes before it), all other tiles next to it, stacked.
Every Sunday from 6 pm there's the weekly preview with everything important for the family in the coming week, and on the last day of the month from 6 pm the outlook on next month's finances. Both appear once as a notice at the top and as a push notification – you can open them again here at any time.
Applies only to your profile. For the push notification to arrive, notifications must be activated on the device (Settings → Notifications).
In a flatshare, family members are called “flatmates” and the family becomes the “flatshare” – throughout the app and for all profiles. All data is kept. Only admins can switch.
🔒 Child lock: this member's profile cannot add, edit or delete anything (checking off works), only views everything in the settings, only sees their own tasks (incl. “All”) and has no access to finance, documents and vehicles. Admins cannot be locked.

Waste calendar
For every collection, pinn. creates a task for the matching bin the day before (Tasks → Household) and checks it off by itself after the collection. Everyone sets the reminder for the day before under Notifications.
Search waste calendar
Your waste collector's website usually offers “iCal”, “Export calendar” or “.ics”. Paste the link here – or upload the downloaded file.

Tip: Swipe a birthday to the left in the overview (on a computer click ×) to hide it.
Ingredients from the meal plan that match a keyword end up on the chosen list instead of the main shop – e.g. everything from Tesco, only the mince from the butcher. They remain visible on the meal plan (with a note).
Items are sorted into categories automatically. Put the categories in the order in which you walk through your shop – applies to all lists and devices of the family. To change a wrongly detected category, long-press the item.
Personal for your profile – applies on all devices you are logged in on.
You set which action belongs to which task on the household page in the respective cleaning task or on the bin.

Support pinn.
pinn. is made in my spare time. If it makes your everyday life a little easier, I'd be happy about a small contribution – entirely voluntary. pinn. stays free and complete for everyone.
pinn. automatically creates a backup before every update. pinn. is unavailable for a few minutes during the update.
Pre-releases (on GitHub) are test versions before the finished version. Normal updates never show them – here you can search for them on purpose.
A signed-out device loses access immediately, no longer receives notifications and deletes the pinn. data on the device the next time it is opened.
Errors from server tasks – calendar sync, push, waste calendar and sign-in. Identical messages are grouped; once it works again, “ok again” is shown. Entries are kept for 30 days.
Already on the list – quantity and note are updated.
The logo is loaded from the shop's website. A custom image takes priority.
Appears under Family → Places. If you stay there for a while, pinn. checks off the planned shopping – you then enter the expenses via the 🔔 at the top. If the shop exists more than once (e.g. two Rewe stores), add every branch – no matter which one you shop at.
Radius, people and recipients can be set in more detail under Family → 📍 Places. Works with location (Traccar Client) and shared location.
When completing a shopping trip, the amount goes into this fund. If “Split expenses” is on there (e.g. shared flat), it is distributed among the members – private items can be deducted.
The shop where you normally shop for the meal plan. The ingredients of the planned recipes can then automatically end up on its list.
There is no list for a shop yet.
A minus in front of the amount books income.
Several pages possible (up to 20 files, each max. 25 MB). Photos are reduced, PDFs remain unchanged. Details are read automatically from invoices as PDF.
Categorye.g. ID card, passport, driving licence, MOT, vaccination, prescription or certificate.
Icon, name and which additional fields are expanded straight away when creating: 🧾 purchase & warranty or ⏳ expiry date.
Nobody selected = contract holder, otherwise all adults.
Template – adjust if necessary. Best file the cancellation and confirmation afterwards as a document on the contract.
Icon, name and in which expense category new contracts are booked by default.
Not shared, but booked into your own fund.
Optional. With several packs, use the earliest date – pinn. reminds you in time by push.
If stock falls below the minimum stock, the item automatically ends up on the selected shopping lists.
Several shops possible – the item then appears on each of these lists. If it is checked off on one list, it disappears from the others. Without selection: list “Meal plan” – or the main shop if the meal plan goes there directly.
When one of these barcodes is scanned, it goes to this item.
Clothing & co. then appears on the list for each person individually – shared items only once.
This determines the number of underwear, socks etc.
Jede*r kann die Punkte auf der Pinnwand abhaken und weitere hinzufügen.
Switched-off categories no longer appear for new recipes and in the filter – handy e.g. if you don't separate lunch and dinner.
For selection when creating recipes and as a filter in the recipe list.
For room cleaning, e.g. “Cleaning” or “Tidying”. Switched-off categories are no longer available for new cleaning tasks.
Devices and their actions – via Apple Shortcuts or Home Assistant. Linked to a cleaning task or a bin, the task gets start buttons and optionally an automation.
How to set it up
1. Create a device and choose whether it runs via Apple Shortcuts or Home Assistant.
2. Set up actions (shortcut name or entity from Home Assistant) – “▶ Test” tries them right away. With a duration or status entity, actions of the same device run one after another.
3. On the Household page, select the actions in a cleaning task or a bin.
Home Assistant works on all devices (including Android) and doesn't need a phone for the automation.
Buttons with shortcuts
In the Shortcuts app, create one shortcut per action, e.g. with the Home action “Run Scene” or your robot vacuum's action, and enter the name exactly like that for the device. pinn. passes the room name as input to the shortcut – so a single shortcut can handle all rooms. Works on iPhone, iPad and Mac.
Name of the action as it appears on the task, next to it the approximate duration in minutes. With a duration, the device is occupied for that long – further actions of the same device only start afterwards (e.g. first vacuum the living room, then mop the kitchen). Better plan a few minutes of buffer, including the return trip to the station. With Home Assistant and a status entity, the device's real state also counts.
Applies to the whole family. The push notification arrives in the morning for everyone who has turned on “Pantry expiring” under Settings → Notifications – once beforehand and once on the day itself.
Product names come from the free databases Open Food Facts, Open Beauty Facts, Open Products Facts and Open Pet Food Facts – queried by your own NAS, using only the barcode number. If none of them knows a product, you name it once; pinn. remembers the barcode for the whole family.
pinn. assumes salt, pepper and water; ingredients “to taste” don’t count. Matching works by name – “wheat flour” in the pantry fits “flour” in the recipe. Where units fit together (g, kg, ml, l, pieces), quantities are compared too.
Enter per shop what you paid and what you got. Bought items disappear from the list, everything else stays. Name and category are prefilled and can be changed. Shops without an amount are not booked.
Each fund has its own transactions, budget, savings, pocket money, contracts, documents and vehicles. What is in a fund is only seen by its members.
With “Split expenses”, a fund calculates who owes whom how much – e.g. for shared flats, holidays or as a couple. Shopping lists can be assigned to a fund under Lists → Edit list. “Family (all)” automatically belongs to everyone and holds contracts without their own fund.
Money was paid back (cash, transfer …). Does not count as an expense.
The budget is the sum of your income in the period – one-off and recurring (e.g. salary with a minus in front). Here you can increase it every month by a fixed amount or decrease it with a minus.
Deposits are converted into shares at the price of the respective day – so you see the current value including gain or loss.
“Already saved” is money that was already put aside for this goal before pinn. You book everything else via “Deposit” or in the expenses under the category “Savings”.
Applies only to your profile – each family member decides which depots are included in their total overview.
CSV export of your purchases, savings plan executions and sales – e.g. from Trade Republic or Portfolio Performance – or ING's depot transactions as PDF. Several ETFs in one file are no problem. Rows without ISIN (such as deposits to the account) are skipped; pinn. recognises transactions already imported and doesn't create them twice.
pinn. adds every payout automatically. What the child spends or receives as a gift, you enter on the pocket money page via “Spent” or “Received”.

Colour
Tapping the child in the “Family members” tile on the overview opens a colourful page with the tasks that are due right now (e.g. brushing teeth in the morning, putting on pyjamas in the evening). Everything starts over every day.
Shows the amount, the next payout and – if tracked – the balance. Pocket money is set under Finance → Pocket money.
Every finished task earns stars. On the kids' page, your child trades them for rewards – pocket money, screen time or wishes. You confirm with one tap.
You manage password and role under Account.
No profile linked yet – only an admin can set this up.
Each family member needs their own profile to log in.
A personal password must be set on first login.
Each task only appears at its time of day – e.g. no pyjamas in the morning, no breakfast in the evening. “All day” always appears. At midnight the day starts over.
Times of day
From bedtime until morning the page only shows “Sleep well”.
Decide what can be had for how many stars. When your child asks for something, you get a notification and confirm on the kids' page or under Finance → Pocket money. Pocket money rewards then go to the balance and are booked as an expense under “Kids”.
Rewards
How many stars a task earns (1–3) is set under “Edit tasks & times of day”.
When checking off the task, you enter the amount paid per shop – it is booked directly in Finance.
Written readably into the event's notes (e.g. "Assigned: Mum, Dad") so that we can recognise the person(s) by colour when displaying.
No calendar yet. Create your own calendar under Settings → Calendar or connect iCloud/Google.
Paste recipe text e.g. from the Notes app as free text, read a photo (cookbook, magazine, recipe card) or a recipe as PDF – title, ingredients and method are recognised automatically and sorted into the right fields. Afterwards you go straight to the detail view to check and complete.
At least one ingredient has no quantity.
Drag the image to move it, zoom with the slider or two fingers – the frame always stays completely filled. This is how the image appears at the top of the recipe and in the thumbnails.
